Industrial Research Infrastructures are public or private facilities, equipment and support services that support industry typically working at technology readiness levels (TRLs) from 4 to 7. They provide access to product testing, validation and upscaling, helping to accelerate the commercialisation of new technologies. On 1 March 2018, the Directorate General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD) organised a one-day workshop to discuss to the future role for industrial infrastructures focusing on industry needs, existing types of provision and the scope to make these infrastructures more visible and accessible. The published workshop report is available at Following the workshop, the participants were sent a follow-up survey to give them the opportunity to further elaborate their views on industrial infrastructures from the users and providers' point of view. This report presents the main findings from the survey, explains the survey methodology and provides a detailed explanation of obtained results. The findings herein complement those of the workshop report, and together with it, will serve as input for the ongoing work of the Commission to develop a Staff Working Document on industrial infrastructures.
